Stephanie was born to the noble house Foxworth in Korin, three and a half years to the day her older sister was killed. When she was a year old, Foxworth was stripped of its peerage for no reason at all, forcing her family to move to a remote manor in the middle of nowhere. Still devastated by the loss of their first child, Stephanie's parents worked to mold her into the image of her sister, so it would be as though she had never left them.

Her memory is hazy; all Stephanie remembers are a few events before and after her sister's death. Her parents refused to tell her anything about the first twelve years of her life and never let her leave the house, keeping her locked in a tower. She never got to go to school like other children her age. As a result, Stephanie grew up sheltered, ignorant, and lonely. Her education consisted of mathematics, fairy tales, and folklore. She has a talent for light magic, but it didn't do her much good other than showing off pretty spells for visitors now and then.

Stephanie has always suspected there was something fishy about her parents' stories, despite their best attempts to convince her that it's just her "swiss-cheese memory" talking. Stephanie always believed them...until now, as the truth behind "The First Stephanie" is slowly beginning to surface.

After months of struggling with her sense of self and against who her parents wanted her to be, the situation finally came to a head when Stephanie's parents discovered her magic journal, which she was using to communicate with the outside world they'd forbidden her contact with. Following a heated argument with them, Stephanie finally broke down and ran away from home. She immediately found herself lost and nearly died of the cold until a woman brought her to a nearby village to recover. She currently lives with her friend Myca and his family at House Veirnan.

Stephanie is tragically naive, knowing almost nothing about the outside world she so longs to be a part of. Should she ever manage to leave her home, all she has to rely on are her magical abilities and mathematical skills. While useful, without the proper street smarts and people skills, they wouldn't get her very far other than her being able to defend herself and figure out costs.

She's extremely apathetic, but is prone to sudden, unprovoked bouts of hopeless depression or unbridled anger. She tries to control her fits by not speaking much, thinking that if she's quiet she won't slip up and say anything offensive. She's also prone to insanity, thanks to her recent nightmares.

Stephanie was once terrified of men to the point of having a nervous breakdown if one so much as looked in her direction. Upon meeting and getting to know Myca and Symeon, her fear has lessened considerably.

Her naivete and fears are limited to other human beings; she knows enough about animals to know which ones are dangerous and when to avoid contact, and the thought of running into a wild bear or wolf doesn't scare her nearly as much as running into strange people. She has a fondness for animals, despite never having been allowed to own a pet.

The most important thing in the world to Stephanie is her identity; she longs to be herself instead of a shell for her sister's ghost. No matter how afraid she is if the truth, she's more afraid of not knowing. She'll risk anything to know who she really is...even her own sanity.

Ever since coming to live at House Veirnan, Stephanie seems happier, or at least more content, but inside she's still that same lost, angry, confused little girl. Her public outbursts have lessened since escaping Foxworth, but she is still tormented by nightmares about her dead sister.

Stephanie has short golden orange hair and pale hazel eyes. Formerly tiny enough to be mistaken for half her age, she's recently begun to grow and fill out a bit. She favors dresses in plain, subtle colors and wears a fraying black shawl over them. Her formerly emotionless face has brightened a bit, and she smiles more often than she used to.
